What To Know About
Medical Thermography
Medical Thermography is a whole-body analysis for assessing skin surface temperatures that can be correlated by a physician to assess for abnormal physiology. Thermography is an FDA-approved, non-invasive, contact-free, safe, adjunctive screening method that involves NO radiation.
Thermography technicians use a state-of-the-art infrared camera that detects and measures the temperature of the skin’s surface. The thermal images can show an increase or decrease in temperature in relation to the opposite side of the body.
For example, Breast tumors and other kinds of tumors can be detected on thermal imaging through the process known as Angioneogenesis: the formation of new blood vessels that supply nutrients to a tumor. This asymmetric increase in blood flow creates an increase in temperature that medical thermal cameras can pick up. This blood supply often increases over time as a tumor grows and is an essential part of baseline studies and the ability to identify a tumor at the earliest possible moment.
Early detection is crucial when it comes to our health. When used at an early age, Thermography can help detect indicators that may suggest potential disease before it becomes a disease.
